The much-memed, long-awaited feature from director Greta Gerwig is a delightful comic fantasy that promotes and deconstructs its own Mattel doll brand. As it turns out, Greenwood and Spencer came at this project with a specific reference point in mind—the pop artist Richard Hamilton’s 1956 collage Just what is it that makes today’s homes so different, so appealing. Like the Mojo Dojo Casa House, the collage is a dissonant amalgamation of imagery, all slapped together around the image of a nude muscle man who is holding a big, orange lollipop in front of his junk.

In a highly relatable montage, the dolls sit through movies with a side of mansplaining, or a beer-fuelled tour of Ken's prized possessions, all while expertly feigning enjoyment at their toxic masculine Kenergy. There's then a scene where the Barbies all sit around campfires with a respective Ken playing guitar to them, which leads to a bust-up when the dolls pretend to lose interest and flirt with a different Ken to the one who's been trying to seduce them. The Barbie movie is smashing records left, right and centre with its box office success, including having the biggest opening record for a movie by a female director.

Again, these machines are designed to be used in homes with reasonably well-sealed walls, and tight insulation. If you don’t have that, no humidity control system will work well for you. Previous buyers found that while warranty coverage was decent, they only got about 2 years out of each unit. Sadly, it’s also par for the course with whole-house dehumidifiers. As with the first Aprilaire we looked at, we’d recommend going with the extended coverage plan.

Honeywell Ducted 7.3A Whole-House Dehumidifier

So if you need to place it in a family room or bedroom, no worries as you can still carry on a conversation or sleep easily. Previous users reported that they often forget that the machine is even on because it is so quiet. Always make sure you’re covered by a substantial factory warranty of at least 3-5 years, and always purchase additional coverage when available. Considering the cost of these machines, and the fact that they’re hard to repair, you want to minimize the chances of you having to pay the full replacement cost. However, the big thing to know with these machines is that the purchase price won’t actually be the total amount you spend.

Dehumidification performance

Learn about the issues that arise from damp, humid basements and the AprilAire high-capacity dehumidifiers that can correct them. Whole house dehumidifiers offer greater protection against humidity than portable dehumidifiers. I always choose an energy efficient model and it reduces my running costs by up to 50% a year. Portable dehumidifiers are best for those who only have humidity issues in certain parts of their home or at specific times of year. Alternatively, you can use automatic drainage to remove the excess moisture more efficiently.

Honeywell TrueDRY Whole House Dehumidifiers

This dehumidifier is ideal for homeowners with smaller houses or spaces where traditional standalone units may be impractical. It’s also an excellent choice for those who prefer a ducted system to maintain consistent humidity levels throughout the house. The Honeywell Ducted 5.2a Dehumidifier offers a tailored solution for smaller homes, ensuring efficient and energy-saving dehumidification. For a dehumidifier that’s packed with both features and power, this option from GE is the way to go. It’s a bit heavy at 44 pounds, but you can still easily move it about thanks to the included wheels and handles.

Whole Home Dehumidifiers with Optional Ventilation

All of the dehumidifiers on this list are from reputable brands, but many buyers tend to lean towards models from home brands like Frigidaire and Honeywell—both of which are featured in our top picks. Just be sure that the hose is long enough to attach from the dehumidifier to the drain pipe. This way you won’t have to empty the water reservoir on a daily basis. Because the Drieaz F515 is so quiet, many customers reported having to actually check the water tank at first, just to make sure it was really working.

Best Energy Efficient Dehumidifier

It has all the advanced features like Auto Defrost, Auto Shut Off, Memory Feature, and timer option. It can also be used in a variety of places such as RVs, grow rooms, bedrooms, laundry rooms, etc. The Turbo mode helps in eliminating the moisture completely. This dehumidifier requires very less maintenance it requires washing the filter only once a month. If you want a compact but efficient dehumidifier for the entire house, the Vremi dehumidifier can work wonders for you.

Best Reliable Whole House Dehumidifiers — Take Good Care of Your Home!

This extraction capacity for 24 hours is definitely impressive. For efficient humidity control, the unit has three humidity settings – dry, normal, and humid. The size and design of the dehumidifier are convenient for both finished and unfinished basements and crawl spaces. It has a horizontal design to make it fit easily into narrow and tight spaces. The shorter footprint of this dehumidifier makes it easy to be installed wherever necessary.

Can a whole-house dehumidifier save energy?

However, to access the bucket, you have to lift off the upper compressor unit, which weighs 38 pounds, and a full bucket itself weighs 40 pounds. If that task would be difficult for you, draining the Cube passively via a hose is an option, or you might look to our other recommendations, which require less lifting. Capable performance plus remote monitoring via an app make this model attractive for out-of-the-way areas, but judging from our experience, some Frigidaire dehumidifiers last only a few years.

You can run it all day and all night without worrying that it will disrupt your sleep. Even if we decide to put it in the living room or anywhere where it is more visible, it still won’t be an eyesore because of how well-designed it is. There is an external pump kit made for this unit, but again, it isn’t included and must be purchased and installed separately. However, this isn't a big issue, and it's still one of the best new whole house dehumidifier units on the market. Read my reviews of the best whole house dehumidifiers on the market. The dehumidifier works well, however it is nosier than expected. The panel is very poorly designed.

A dehumidifier, especially a whole house dehumidifier, can cost more than you think to run, and you need to consider the energy efficiency of the unit you choose. Not all whole house dehumidifiers that support pump drainage come with a pumping kit. For whole home dehumidifiers, there are two installation methods, ducted or portable.

Even if you don’t live in a muggy climate, elevated humidity can be an issue in your home. Those looking for a high-quality, high-capacity ducted humidifier may wish to check out the Honeywell 7.3A whole-house dehumidifier. The second Honeywell model to make our lineup, this model is intended for larger homes with up to 3,500 square feet of living space.

It’s no secret that hobbits are a bit quirky, but their choice of homes takes the cake. The hobbits’ homes are called “smials,” which is basically a fancy way of saying “burrow.” Yep, you read that right, these little creatures live in underground burrows. But don’t let that fool you into thinking they’re primitive, oh no.

Add The Roof To Your Hobbit House

If you’re a die-hard Tolkien fan or just someone looking for a unique stay, the experience might be worth the price. But, as with any accommodation, it’s always a good idea to shop around and read reviews to ensure you’re getting good value for your money. This tiny hobbit house is close to Syracuse NY and Jamesville Beach, but it feels worlds apart when you’re spending the night in this secluded cabin built into the earth. It can accommodate a couple and a child or two, making it the ideal getaway for couples and small families. While it’s true that the roof of your hobbit home will technically be the earth itself, most hobbit houses have a layer of roofing built underneath. I really love when hobbit houses have beautiful gardens outside the front of the home.

From Germany to New Zealand, hobbit house rentals are nestled in charming towns all across the world. Consider staying in one of these quaint hobbit homes during your next vacation. A hobbit house isn't just built in the landscape, it's a part of it. There are a few places around the world where you can stay in a hobbit house, and the cost varies depending on the location and amenities. Some places offer a simple hobbit hole experience for as little as $50 a night, while others offer more luxurious accommodations that can cost upwards of $1,000 per night.

If I ever build my own hobbit house, I’d love to include lots of big, round windows that let in tons of natural light. I’d also hope to build an in-home library that wraps around the entire inside wall so I can escape to a fictional land whenever I want. I’ve seen people hang a family crest over their circular hobbit home doorways to make the décor more meaningful. Others have painted custom designs on the interior of their front door to give their house extra character and flair. Continuous Product Design: Best Practices for Successful Implementation

continuous product design

This approach aligns with the agile methodology, emphasizing collaboration, flexibility, and responsiveness to change. This paradigm shift is not just a trend but a strategic move towards creating products that evolve in sync with user needs, market trends, and emerging technologies. At its core, continuous product design is an iterative approach that emphasizes constant evolution and refinement of software products. It’s a shift from the ‘launch it and leave it’ mindset to a ‘launch it and improve it’ philosophy. This approach is crucial in a world where customer preferences and technological landscapes change at lightning speed.

Embracing Neumorphism: Designing Tomorrow's Products Today

Quite the opposite, it suggests that the 4 key constructs — messy reality, insights, concepts, and product — are in continuous evolution, dynamically influence each other, and are never “done”. Most are continuously updated with a frequency ranging from a few days to a few months between releases. Typically, the first release is a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) which contains just a tiny subset of the functions and content that the mature product will eventually have. Therefore, most of the design activity occurs after the product is already launched and has active users.

These folks are in constant communication with people who may be willing to participate in short usability studies. So establishing a continuous mindset is about transforming assumptions into hypotheses, using hypotheses to set up experiments, and using experiments to refine ideas. Continuous discovery goes beyond getting those few bullet points of data needed to back up a feature on the roadmap. It’s a mindset that’s always challenging the assumptions we think to be true, actively trying to poke holes and prove them wrong. Continuous discovery opens the door for your customer to call out these assumptions.

CPD fosters a culture of innovation and continuous learning within organizations. Encouraging teams to experiment, collaborate, and iterate results in better products and boosts employee morale and creativity. Creating an environment that values innovation encourages employees to go beyond conventional thinking and challenge the status quo.

In short, future trends in continuous product design revolve around leveraging technology to create products that are more responsive to user needs and preferences. In general, continuous product design leads to products that are better aligned with user expectations and the current market state. You start with a product idea, create a basic version, and then put it into the hands of users quickly. Instead of waiting to release a "perfect" final product, you make small, frequent updates based on real-world use and feedback. When interpreting the framework and applying it in practice, four key concepts are important to bear in mind. I propose a new process framework for continuous design to bridge this divide between theory and practice.

The watch runs on a tiny lithium-ion battery, which provides long battery life and ensures that the wearer never has to worry about the watch running out of power. The battery is easy to charge, and the watch has a low-power mode that extends the battery life even further. This will guide your decisions, helping to fine-tune your product in a way that resonates with your target audience.

The agile development process and CPD are a perfect pairing.

It’s a process that prioritizes customer feedback, fosters collaboration among teams, and emphasizes data-driven decision-making. In continuous product design, the product manager, designers, engineers, and the marketing and sales teams all have distinct roles. The product manager oversees the overall direction and coordination of the product’s development.

Feedback teams analyze user feedback, feature requests, and complaints to identify patterns and trends. They relay this information to the product development teams, guiding iterative improvements and prioritizing enhancements based on user needs and market demands. Implementing continuous product design ensures that your product remains relevant and competitive in the market.

And often these assumptions—built on small samples, confirmation bias, and personal desires—go undetected. Even with a well-refined product discovery process, your studies and interviews will always be drawing from a limited sample. So there’s always the risk that research participants don’t reflect your target customer base. These insights can be gathered through prototype tests, customer interviews, 5-second tests, contextual inquiries, surveys, and more.

By integrating continuous feedback loops and agile methodologies, teams can adapt swiftly to emerging trends. This guide equips professionals with the tools to iterate effectively, enhancing product quality and customer satisfaction amidst ever-changing demands. Discover the key principles, strategies, and tools needed to continuously iterate and improve your product design, ensuring its success in the ever-evolving market. Continuous product discovery turns traditional product discovery into a loop.

One of the best solutions is allowing users to opt in while they’re using your product. It can be as simple as a pop-up asking “Do you have 20 minutes to talk about your product experience? Product discovery is not a linear phase that starts at project kick-off and ends with hand-off for delivery. Discovery and delivery are continuous processes that should happen in parallel. Continuous interactions with users, alongside clear awareness of business goals, maximize the chances of finding that happy medium. No matter how much that last release boosted adoption or customer satisfaction, there’s always the next round of prioritization and refinement to decide what to build next.

Taking a functional prototype to full development gives insight for a successful launch. Throughout the building and release stage, improvements are driven back into the product roadmap as discoveries from feedback in the marketplace convert to immediate successes. Key decisions in the design process, including feature prioritization and user experience optimization, are guided by data. Product teams can respond quickly to new data, customer feedback, and market trends through agile methodologies, leading to more effective and efficient product development. Continuous Product Design (CPD) is a customer-defined and quantified approach to building better digital products faster. House-baked pastries and bread, grass-fed butter and ORA King salmon sustainably farmed in their homeland don’t hurt either. Tourists and Westsiders might wait in long lines at Intelligentsia up the street, but Silver Lake locals prefer Cafecito, the quieter shop up on Hoover. Here you’ll find less pretension and more privacy, not to mention an ethos that's all about sustainability and social justice. The shop is small, with only a bit of counter space inside, but a spacious and pet-friendly patio makes for a good place to get work done, catch up with friends or make eyes at your neighbor.

However, the signature menu is where the best of Endorffeine exists. If you want something herbal and crisp, order the tamarind-Thai basil tea. The vanilla-pandan iced latte is also a unique favorite, as is the palm sugar-whiskey iced latte. From the LA Times to Food and Wine, Endorffeine has appeared on several "best of" lists, so it's only appropriate that it's scored a spot on ours.

Go Get Em Tiger is the growing coffee empire by Kyle Glanville and Charles Babinski, a duo whose original G&B Coffee stall just so happens to be its own staple at Grand Central Market. With eight locations currently running throughout the city, Go Get Em Tiger has fast become a hometown chain with consistency, but with enough charm and nuance at each outpost to keep things fresh. Customers can choose from to-go goods and grab-and-go bottles of house-made cold brew, or take a patio seat to take in the funky, fun spaces with pastries, brunchy bites and retail items. While the coffee should obviously be the main draw of any coffee shop, the design-forward interior and vibe at Maru are enough to make anyone want to visit. The atmosphere and ambiance are both calming and inspiring, and thankfully, there are three different locations in LA. Between the funky architecture and bright and airy interior, Coffee for Sasquatch is a design enthusiast's dream.

The shop also sells French toast and breakfast burritos, if you want to get your brunch on, as well as lunch offerings like burgers, chicken sandwiches, and grilled cheese. The foam art is top-notch as the dude who runs the show dominated the Latte Art World Championship three times. The LA caffeine scene is crowded, especially in several of the neighborhoods where GGET has taken root like the Arts District, Los Feliz and Highland Park. By celebrating successes and learning from setbacks, teams develop resilience and a shared sense of purpose, fueling long-term success. This approach fosters rapid responses to changing needs and market trends. Teams collaborate closely, aligning efforts towards enhancing user experience. Continuous Product Design is a cross-team approach to building better digital products faster — based on a shared, quantified, and continuous view of customer signals. Instead of a hard hat and a hammer, breaking down the walls of a siloed process requires merging the disciplines of design, development and user feedback into a single workflow.

Navigating Design Trends 2024: Crafting Tomorrow's Visual Landscape

To create successful products, you should implement the product design processes within your product life cycle. They observe and understand customers’ needs, behaviors and expectations. Continuous product design relies on data to inform decision-making, leading to improved product-market fit. Through metrics such as user engagement, retention, and conversion rates, teams gain a deeper understanding of market dynamics. By analyzing this data, product owners can identify trends, anticipate user behavior, and align product features with market demands.

Creating a quality digital product or service is desirable for the consumer, viable for the business and feasible to deliver. To deliver quality digital products, you need a team with the capabilities, mindset, creativity and focus on delivering meaningful experiences. Innovation frequently stems from a profound understanding of user needs, particularly in product design.

The optimal platform should not only align with your business’s technical requirements but should also be conducive to fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration. For example, if you go to many big companies, they’re not product-focused yet. Everything’s a project, and they treat developers as if they’re bricklayers. They say, “Oh, this team over here needs some development.” So they grab some developers, throw them in, and off they go. Alternatively, you can outsource your CPD to a firm that has an established team and methodology. While outsourcing may seem like a heavy cost upfront, time and time again, studies show that there are significant cost savings when a business outsources some of its processes.

Invest in Cross-Functional Teams

By continuously gathering user feedback and iterating on your product, you can address evolving customer needs and stay ahead of the competition. The need for continuous product development is seen in every industry, from technology to healthcare, agriculture, and beyond. These fields have witnessed rapid, transformative changes driven by continuous design improvements over the years. This relentless pursuit of innovation highlights the need for businesses and entrepreneurs to embrace continuous product design. Beyond just user feedback, data plays a crucial role in shaping design decisions. Analytics can show how users are interacting with a product, which features are popular, and where they face difficulties.

What are the limitations of the agile Development Process?

Graphic and industrial designers can iterate and refine their designs on the drawing board, but once they go into production they are “frozen,” and any change is effectively a new product. In these industrial-era design disciplines, 100% of design happens pre-launch. Continuous Product Design (CPD) is really about constant learning and understanding your customer—how they use your products and services and their needs—at an organizational level. With continuous updates, maintaining consistency in your product can be challenging. The answer is to establish and adhere to clear design and development standards.

Continuous Product Design is not just about quick fixes; it's about building a foundation for sustained innovation. By fostering a culture of ongoing improvement, teams can stay ahead of the curve and anticipate user needs before they arise. In the early 1970s, Kodak invented the world's first digital camera, but decided not to commercialize it. This was a critical product design error, demonstrating a lack of foresight and resistance to embrace change. As the digital age dawned, their competitors seized the opportunity to introduce digital cameras and, later, smartphones with high-quality cameras to the market. Kodak, stuck in its old ways, continued to focus on film-based products, failing to recognize the paradigm shift.

Embracing this methodology requires a cultural shift within organizations, emphasizing collaboration, adaptability, and a relentless commitment to meeting user needs. As we navigate the ever-evolving landscape of technology and user expectations, Continuous Product Design stands as a beacon for those who seek to innovate with agility and purpose. At Avail Creative, we champion continuous design and development for businesses and entrepreneurs.

They also assist in preparing customers for product launches and updates and provide input on pricing and positioning strategies based on market research and customer feedback. Iterative development allows for ongoing enhancements and improvements to the product. The customer-centric approach, on the other hand, ensures that the voice of the customer is at the heart of every design decision. Finally, data-driven decisions are the guiding light in continuous product design, providing a clear path forward and enabling informed decision-making based on reliable data. It helps to align product development with user expectations and preferences. Various techniques such as surveys, one-on-one interviews, and product usage monitoring can be employed to collect feedback.

continuous product design

I would be delighted if you feel inspired to adopt, adapt, build on, or respond to this framework with your own ideas. Design has its own ways of engaging with problems and building knowledge. Perhaps the most important of these is modelling — building visual or physical representations that help clarify, explore, and test aspects of the problem or solution space. Catch the latest in interactions enhancements, user analytics and Gen AI features. You need the most senior person to fundamentally believe in what you’re doing. The last thing — which I found most often missing and core to the loss of traction — is you have to pay people for what you want them to do.

Agile complements continuous design by emphasizing collaboration, user feedback, and rapid iteration. Tools like Jira or Trello can help manage this workflow, ensuring all team members are aligned. Continuous improvement is a strategic approach that involves consistent enhancements and updates to products. This approach enables companies to maintain their products’ relevance and competitiveness in the market. It is a process of consistent refinement, ensuring that the products stay up-to-date with the current market trends and customer preferences. Furthermore, they conduct thorough market research, gather customer insights, and collaborate with the product designers to better understand customer needs and translate them into product features.

Then it’s off to the Roasting Works Intelligentsia runs, which are often located in the cities they service to ensure maximum freshness. While the coffee quality is consistent across the board, the cafes vary wildly. Hollywood is sleek while Pasadena looks like a funky industrial loft.

The Manhattan Beach shop has a more surf-inspired ambiance, while the Culver City goodboybobs is a bit more industrial. In addition to coffee and tea, visitors can also order a variety of chapati wraps, pastries, and tartines. The Culver City and Santa Monica locations also serve wine, beer, cider, and mimosas in the afternoon. Enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning and a glass of champagne in the early evening. The modern coffee shop is situated right in the heart of Melrose Avenue in the Melrose Arts District, and you'll always find an array of locals and visitors popping in for a shot of espresso. Upon walking in, the first thing to greet guests is a wall of greenery that creates the outline of a sasquatch. The curved white booths are contemporary while still being inviting, and the shop can easily be used for working or hanging. The New Orleans-style coffee is by far the most popular item on the menu. It's definitely on the sweeter side, but if you prefer to start your morning with a little sugar, it's the perfect drink no matter what time of year. Alchemist Coffee Project also has different kinds of sandwiches and toasts.

Civil Coffee has three locations across LA in Highland Park, DTLA, and Studio City. Each spot specializes in craft coffees along with light fare for both breakfast and lunch. There is also a modern appeal and style across each storefront, and there are always plenty of people working and gathering with their laptops throughout the entire week. The Highland Park and Studio City locations have more food menu items than the DTLA shop, but every kind of coffee lover and diner can find something to their liking. This Michigan-based coffee shop takes coffee really seriously — they taste about 3,000 coffees every year to find the best varieties to bring to their customers, as they have been since 2008. That painstaking decision-making process results in one amazing cup of coffee that's guaranteed to make the start to your morning great.

Goodboybob has three Westside locations in Manhattan Beach, Santa Monica, and Culver City. The Santa Monica location opened in the summer of 2017 and has been a local favorite ever since. The laid-back yet cozy setting is ideal for catching up with friends over a cappuccino or for setting up a relaxed business meeting or interview. The outdoor patio at the Santa Monica location also allows patrons to soak up some sun while they get their caffeine fix. Despite being incredibly trendy and very "LA," Alfred is known for making some pretty solid brews. There are locations scattered all throughout the city from Malibu to LA's Koreatown. The original Alfred opened up on Melrose Place before quickly expanding and becoming a trendy coffee shop on social media and a celebrity favorite. Everyone from the Kardashians to Nick Jonas has been spotted at Alfred. When you walk into the original location of this San Francisco coffee shop, you're greeted by tons of natural light, clean lines, and a super fancy, retro-designed Kees van der Westen espresso machine. Try the Short Strand espresso, made to be sweet with notes of toffee and milk chocolate, or the Wind & Sea blend, which was inspired by a long Ocean Beach surf session and, according to Andytown, is best enjoyed on a foggy day — good thing San Francisco has no shortage of those.

This spacious and stylish coffee destination is busy no matter the time of day—no surprise, seeing as it’s one of Highland Park’s top shops to grab a cup and a croissant, now with a second location in Downtown L.A.'s Fashion District. The original location's tall ceilings, tiled floors and diverse seating options spread between tables, couches and a patio out back make for a fashionable setting, while the toasts, breakfast burritos, and Sugarbloom Bakery pastries make for a solid meal. The espresso blend rotates frequently, but teas and specialty coffee drinks remain more or less the same. We love the Figueroa, made with sweetened condensed milk, espresso, milk and cinnamon, topped with a Maria Cookie. Hyper curated and hyper technical, Highland Park's Kumquat Coffee is a caffeine lover's paradise. They also offer fresh pastries and breakfast burritos, just in case all that caffeine isn't fuel enough.

Just like the name suggests, La La Land Kind Cafe is known for serving up some of the best vibes and coffee in the city. With three locations in Los Angeles, La La Land Kind Cafe can be found in Santa Monica, Calabasas, and The Grove in West Hollywood. The white and yellow interior is modern yet aesthetic and warm, and to say the service is friendly would be an understatement. In 2018, Yonnie Hagos and Ajay Relan first opened in the historically Black neighborhood of View Park-Windsor Hills, hoping to help locals connect, caffeinate and continue the climb towards success. Since then, after being featured on HBO's Insecure, the coffee shop is now backed by showrunner Issa Rae, who's helped Hilltop expand to Inglewood, Eagle Rock and Downtown. And Eagle Rock locations have plenty of tables and a few charging outlets apiece, while the Inglewood shop’s lofted couch seating is more conducive to casual morning or afternoon hangs.

That said, places like Palo Alto, San Francisco, and Santa Cruz are also home to Verve coffee shops. While many people like to order Verve coffee beans online for their homemade morning brew, having an excuse to get out of the house and hit up a local coffee shop chain is always nice. Part coffee shop, part subscription service, Dayglow is all about showcasing its favorite independent and up-and-coming roasters from around the world. You can find them stashed in the monthly coffee boxes, or drop by either the Silver Lake or West Hollywood locations for a full espresso menu, neon-lit settings and, of course, whatever the daily selection of these faves might be.

Street parking can be tough to find, but bike racks abound for two-wheeled commuters. Whether you're in Los Feliz, Beverly Hills, or the Arts District in DTLA, Maru Coffee is not far. That said, all of the coffee is actually roasted at the DTLA location, and guests can always expect quality to remain a top priority. If you like to have some top-notch beans on hand for coffee at home, definitely pick up a bag of the light-roasted Kenya Chinga. Relax beneath cascading plants and sip a meticulously thought-out latte in this East Williamsburg cafe. Sey Coffee takes their brews so seriously that they offer customers the chance to "sniff, slurp and discuss" the coffee inside the roastery once a month.

A cup of joe is perhaps the most classic and universally loved morning ritual shared by people all across the globe. While some people refuse to give up on their Starbucks or Dunkin' Donuts order, branching out and trying locally owned and independent coffee shops can open your eyes to the magical world of quality coffee. Whether you stick with a simple cold brew to get your day going or you prefer a milky latte, coffee is far more complex than most people realize. That said, while trendy spots don't always serve the best food and drink, Alfred remains pretty consistent and hasn't lost sight of the importance of quality goods. The iced vanilla latte is one of the most popular drinks, but if you're looking for a bit of zen with your caffeine boost, order the iced lavender latte. Depending on which location you visit, Alfred also has breakfast items like bagels and cream cheese, breakfast sandwiches, yogurt and granola, and breakfast burritos.

The lavender syrup is herbal and sweet, and since it's served over ice, it's the perfect beverage for a warm summer day in LA. Other menu items include flat whites, cappuccinos, Americanos, espresso, cortados, lattes, and flash brews. Terminal C

miami florida cruise port

In 2010, it was ranked USA's 7th and world's 33rd in terms of human capital, business activities, information exchange, politics and culture. Nicknamed "Capital of Latin America", Miami is USA's largest city with Cuban-American citizens. A family of four taking the Carnival transfer from the Miami airport would pay more than $180 round trip, despite the trip only taking about minutes each way.

Tunnel and Deep Dredge

Waiting a little later can make check-in a breeze as the crowds have died down. We’ve covered all of your options in-depth here in our port transportation page. For most people, however, they will use one of a handful of options. Below, we’ve listed just a few hotel options (there are hundreds — if not thousands in the Miami area).

Long Beach, CA

The lot is located about 1.5 miles driving from the cruise terminals. Reservations are available on their website, which we recommend to ensure you have a spot when you arrive. While it is the priciest option, we recommend that cruise passengers simply park at the official port lots. Not only is it the most convenient with the ability to park right at the ship, but it is also the most reliable option we’ve found.

Independent airport shuttle from Miami airport to the cruise port

The latter is advisable unless you are staying in a hotel Downtown or in Miami Beach. The Tunnel entrance/exit is on MacArthur Causeway (I-395) that connects mainland Miami to South Beach, right in the middle of Watson Island (very close to the mainland). A good alternative to Cruise Lines Transfers, Taxi, Uber or Lift is the service provided by independent shuttle companies that can easily be booked online. There are quite a few and IQCruising does NOT in any way endorse, sponsor or gets paid to advertise any of them. Cruise travelers should check these services and prices, which can be very competitive, and also check for reviews online before booking. Naturally, when disembarking a cruise ship, most travelers want to get out of the port as fast as possible either to get home or to explore Miami before getting on a flight.

If wheelchairs are required for the duration of the sailing, passengers are responsible for providing their own or they could likely rent from their cruise ship. There's Bayside Marketplace nearby, which is a four-minute drive from the Port of Miami. Brickell City Centre offers visitors upscale shopping along with dining options and is about a 10- to 15-minute drive from Port of Miami. Buses also run regularly from FLL, such as Greyhound and FlixBus.

These transfers can be arranged in advance online or by calling to the cruise line (2 to 4 days prior to sailing depending on which cruise line). Terminal D was opened in 2007 and upgraded in 2013 to accommodate the new generation of larger Carnival cruise ships. The apron of the terminals was improved to allow for new passenger boarding bridges to the ships.

It may help to drop off or pick up at the very beginning or end of the terminal as there is less traffic here and it may be less of a hassle to stop and let out passengers. Note that parking at Royal Caribbean’s Terminal A is $25 per day for sailings of six nights or more. The rate is $28 per day for cruises of five nights or less.

Royal Caribbean's Terminal A Garage charges a higher rate of $35 per day. Ride-hailing services such as Uber and Lyft are also an option. Taxi stands are on the arrival (ground) level of the airport (outside baggage claim). Make sure you carry a credit card with airport lounge access as a benefit. The Chase Sapphire Reserve® gives you access to Priority Pass lounges, while The Platinum Card® from American Express will open the door to the Amex Centurion Lounge at MIA.

Parking at the Cruise Port

Note that the trolley drop off at the port is a considerable distance from Terminals A & B (Royal Caribbean and Norwegian) and will require a decent walk. There are dozens of car services in the area that will pick you up in a private car or limo. In fact, many of the same companies that provide shared shuttle service also have private car service too. We can’t list every shuttle service here as there are quite a few of them. Note that we don’t recommend or suggest against any particular company as we haven’t used them.

Once you have completed the check-in and security process, you will be directed to the appropriate waiting area to board your cruise ship. Keep an eye on the boarding announcements and follow the instructions provided by the terminal staff. There are multiple parking options available near Terminal C, including short-term and long-term parking. Rates may vary, so it’s best to check the Port of Miami website for the most up-to-date information. Numerous signs throughout the port area will direct you to the correct terminal for your ship.

This is believed to be the oldest building in the Americas, built-in 1133. The Wolfsonian is a museum in the middle of the art district that showcases interesting and thought-provoking art deco pieces of the period between 1850 to now. The museum’s objective is to show innovative art from the past and how it has formed or shaped modern-day Art Deco. There are plenty of opportunities to enjoy your day at Crandon Park. You can also go hiking and have a picnic; the possibilities are endless.

Here’s a rendering of the new terminal, built in partnership with Fincantieri (who is currently building the MSC Seashore at their shipyard in Italy). Royal Caribbean’s Icon of Seas has its home port in Miami. Over five times the size of the Titanic, the Icon of the Seas is over 1000 feet long and 20 decks tall. Miami is considered the Cruise Capital of the world, with over 7 million cruise passengers visiting it’s port each year. There are numerous place to shop, along with restaurants and things to do near the Port of Miami. Cruises originating from Miami embark from the Port of Miami which is located at 1015 N.

Hotels closest to the port usually offer higher-end accommodations due to being near trendy downtown and also usually have nicer atmosphere. You can also try staying in South Beach, with its famous art-deco hotels. It’s only about minutes from the port and offers lots to see and do before a cruise. The port’s recent infrastructure expansion added three new cruise terminals with ongoing construction of future facilities. The port is also finalizing its Shore Power Program that will give the port the capability to plug three cruise ships into shore power. This will allow a cruise ship to turn off their primary engines while docked, reducing air emissions.
